We are holding our August Bank Holiday Great Dalby History event in the church, complimented on the Monday by the very first 'Grown & Made in Great Dalby' show in the village hall. Refreshments will be available.
If you have family or historical connections to Great Dalby, then this is an opportunity for you to come along to St Swithun's Church and see old photographs, family trees, exhibitions, copies of Church Registers - all with Great Dalby connections. Local historians/Family history researchers will be there to help you and maybe learn from you.
Great Dalby names such as: Pears, Sharpe, Sharp, Johnson, Parker, Williamson,
Pick, Digby, Measure, Burroughbridge, Fisher, Rollings, Walker, Boyfield, Warren, Edenborough... to name but a few, will all be in the files somewhere. If you are lucky you may be able to find some of these names on the beautifully carved Swithland slate tombstones in the churchyard of St. Swithun, Great Dalby.
